Also known as Formula 1 Pirelli 2018 United States Grand Prix, United States Grand Prix 2018 was the 18th round of the Formula One World championship held on 21st October 2018. 

The 18th round of the race was the biggest disappointment for the fans of Mercedes as Lewis Hamilton just missed the 5th World title and finished the 3rd position. 

But this race would be remembered for another history that was created by Kimi Raikkonen. This Ferrari driver splendidly secured the 1st position. Before Raikkonen’s victory, the record for the longest gap between Grand Prix win had been hold by Patrese.

Practice 1 (19th October 2018)

Because of the heavy overnight rain, participants had to practice in a very damp racing track. However, the rain did not put any effect on the performance of Lewis Hamilton. He came first in the first session by completing the 6 laps in the time 1:47.502 seconds. Surprisingly, the second position was secured by another Mercedes member, Valtteri Bottas. While the Red Bulls of Max Verstappen secured the 3rd place.

Practice 2 (19th October 2018)

Again rain welcomed the participants. All 20 drivers had to wait for the opening 45 minutes in their garage. But finally, the weather improved and it was Lewis Hamilton who left everyone behind and snatched the first place from Pierre Gasly.

Practice 3 (20th October 2018)

After a lot of heavy rainfall in both 1st and 2nd practice session, everyone was waiting for Saturday’s afternoon. The 3rd practice race of the United States Grand Prix turned out to be very busy. Both Mercedes drivers, Sebastian Vettel, and Kimi Raikkonen secured the top positions in the session. Vettel led teammate Raikkonen by just 0.046s. 

Qualifying (20th October 2018)

In the qualifying race, Lewis Hamilton put himself in the superior position one more time. In Q3, he completed 20 laps in 1:32.237 seconds. Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen came 2nd and 3rd. 

Race (21st October 2018)

This time Lewis Hamilton got failed to secure his 5th World Title. He finished 3rd with the 15 points. Hamilton let a victory slip from his hand by delaying a second pit stop. 

Max Verstappen came second with 18 points. He completed 56 laps in time (+1.281s). Ferrari driver, Raikkonen kept Lewis title hopes on the ice and received the unexpected yet superb victory. 

In the final race, Kimi Räikkönen the Ferrari driver topped the position. He took 1:34:18.643 time to complete 56 laps.
