Held on 30th September 2018 at Sochi Autodrom in Sochi Russia, The 2018 Russian Grand Prix was the 16th race of the 2018 Formula One World Championship. Officially known as Formula 1, 2018 VTB Russian Grand Prix, this race was held in Sochi 5th time and seventh running of the Russian Grand Prix. 

In the race, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes driver) entered round with 40-point over Sebastian Vettel. In this Constructor’s Championship, Mercedes won over Ferrari by 37 points. The 16th round of the Formal 1 2018 World Championship was a controversial race as Mercedes swapped their 2 drivers where Hamilton won the race and Valtteri Bottas stood 2.nd

When the race started, Sebastian Vettel started well off than Hamilton. He left no room for overtaking. On lap 4, two of the Scuderia Toro Rosso drivers – Brendon Hartley and Pierre Gasly suffered from brake failures, result in race retirement of both the racers. On lap 14, Lewis Hamilton made his pitstop of the race that put him behind Vettel. After two Laps, Hamilton made a smart move on Vettel at turn 3 and then passed him into the 4th place. The most amazing moment came on lap 26. This was the lap when Mercedes asked Bottas to let Hamilton through the 2nd at turn 13. Verstappen who was leading the race till lap 1 entered in for his pit stop on lap 42. 

Lewis Hamilton was a clear winner and he won the race third time in his entire career. Valtteri Bottas stood second, whereas Sebastian Vettel came third. Lewis Hamilton won the race over Vettel in the Formula One championship to 50 points.

Practice 1 (28 September)

Sebastian Vettel was well aware of what he needs to get the title in Sochi. On the practice 1, he made the perfect start by leading from the Max Verstappen of the Red Bull. Vettel trails Lewis Hamilton by 40 points. 

Practice 2 (28th September)

In free practice 1, Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari led the way. Mercedes switched on the hypersoft and unleashed the basic potential of their W09. Lewis Hamilton ended up 0.4 seconds up on the 3rd place of Max Verstappen (Red Bull). When the session ends, the three teams were lined in pairs. Hamilton and Bottas of Mercedes, along with the Finn 0.199s behind from Hamilton. Then Ricciardo and Verstappen for Red Bull, followed by Kimi Raikkonen and Vettel of Ferraris.  

Practice 3 (29th September)

It seems like Ferrari has to struggle a lot if they want to stop Mercedes taking pole to Russia. Hamilton and Bottas lead the final practice, whereas Sebastian Vettel stood third. 

Qualifying (29th September)

During the qualifying round, Valtteri Bottas had been out-qualified by the team. After qualifying session on Saturday, he hasn’t. On the other hand, the Finn maintained Russian record by snatching the lap out of the bad in Q3 to claim the 2nd pole position of the year. 

Final Race (30th September)

Last year, Valtteri Bottas earned his maiden Grand Prix victory. On Sunday, Mercedes Driver was asked to play the team, permitting Hamilton to claim a victory and lead the championship lead over Valtteri Bottas and Sebastian Vettel.
