Officially known as the Formula 1 Gran Premio Heineken d’Italia 2018, Italian Grand Prix was the 14th round of Formula One World Championship. It was marked the 88th running of the Italian Grand Prix. The final race happened on 2nd September 2018 at the historic racetrack, Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Italy

Speaking of the course length, it was approximately 5.793 km. This motor race will always be known for Hamilton’s thrilling yet controversial victory. The Mercedes driver invaded the round with a 17 point lead over German driver Sebastian Vettel in the Drivers’ championship. 

Practice 1 (31st August 2018)

The wet conditions made it difficult for drivers to display their pace. Nevertheless, Sergio Perez from Force India Mercedes leveraged the benefits of drying track and stood first in the 1st practice session. 

Practice 2 (31st August 2018)

Talking about the second practice session, it was Sebastian Vettel who secured the 1st position without making any gap. Just two minutes were left on the clock Marcus Ericsson suffered a high-speed crash. Once the action resumed, Vettel bounced back and came 1st by completing the 27 laps without making any gap in the time (1:21.105)

Practice 3 (1st September 2018)

In the final practice and Sebastian Vettel topped the timesheet at Temple of Speed of Monza. However, Mercedes were not far off Ferrari along with Hamilton who was just 0.081 seconds behind. 

Qualifying(1st September 2018)

Qualifying race brought good news for Ferrari fans. Both Ferrari drives i.e. Kimi and Sebastian secured 1st and 2nd place. Lewis Hamilton from team Mercedes came 3rd in Q3.

Final Race (2nd September, 2018)

Vettel entered into Ferrari’s home race in a precise order. And why not? Belgium victory had given him enough confidence. Unfortunately, he couldn’t continue his good work of Spa in the Italian Grand Prix and Hamilton wrenched victory from Ferrari’s hand. 

The race was more like a cat-and-mouse battle the way Lewis and Kimi racing in the track. Eventually, Mercedes passed Ferrari around the outside of the first corner when there were nine laps to go. 

Not only Lewis dashed Ferrari’s hopes of winning to the ground but also enlarged the Briton’s championship lead over Vettel, who secured the 4th place.

Raikkonen tried hard to defend the lead. Vettel who was just behind the Raikkonen was attempting a pass around. But Hamilton had some other ideas in his mind. He took advantage of a spin from Vettel just after a smart pass on his title rival and took a shocking victory in Italian Grand Prix.
