Belgian Grand Prix, the 13th round of the Formula One World Championship 2018 was held on 26th of August at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium. This 13th round was also marked as the 74th running of the Belgian Grand Prix and it was the 51 time as the World Championship round. 

After losing a couple of races, Ferrari team entered back into the championship in their own style. Sebastian Vettel cleverly snatched the title from Lewis Hamilton in the final race and cut his lead to 10 points. Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes driver came into the ground with a 24-point lead over Vettel.

Before the final race, there were three free practice races and one qualifying. The final race was held on 26th August 2018 which was won by Sebastian Vettel.

Practice 1 (24th August 2018)

After the summer break, Vettel was the quickest out of the blocks. Without any gap, he completed 19 laps. Red Bull team member Max Verstappen secured second place with a gap of +0.151s. He took the time of 1:44.509 to complete 20 laps.

Practice 2 (24th August 2018)

The second practice session was for Ferrari. Kimi Räikkönen finished 29 laps in the time 1:43.355 and that without any gap. Although Lewis Hamilton tried to keep the pressure on he couldn’t stop Raikkonen from topping this practice session.

Hamilton got the second position by completing the 28 laps in the time 1:43.523 while Finnish racing driver Bottas had to appease with 3rd position. 

Practice 3 & Qualifying (25th August 2018)

In the final practice race, it was the 2 Ferrari cars that led the timesheets. Although Mercedes were not that much behind, Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen really showed some good actions.

Mercedes secured 1st position in the qualifying race but viewers were astonished to see Force India Mercedes in 3rd and 4th Place

Final Race (26th July 2018)

In all three practice sessions, red cars were the fastest. Spectators were interested to see whether or not they would show their magic again in the final race. However, on race day, Mercedes were unable to hold the Ferrari. 

Due to power unit penalty, Valtteri Bottas had to start from the back of the grid. Sebastian Vettel left Lewis Hamilton behind on the first lap before a safety car was deployed after a multi-car crash happened at the first corner. Thereafter, Vettel got momentum in the race. 

From the time of his pole position, Lewis Hamilton kept his lead but he couldn’t continue it. Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel had the perfect run on him. Hamilton was not far behind in the race but his hopes also got affected by Max Verstappen’s Red Bull who later secured 3rd position in the race.
