On the first day of the practice, Hamilton was quicker than Bottas by 0.127s. Both drivers were competing better from their Silver Arrow, following the Mercedes engine upgrade at Circuit Paul Ricard last week. Although, it was a home circuit of Red Bull, but still Mercedes led the race, with Hamilton’s teammate Valtteri Bottas.

Qualifying (30 June 2018)

The first run of the Bottas was really amazing. Finn finishes half a second clear of the field. However, Hamilton increased the final run pressure, which was a big mistake. But still, he stamped his authority and beat through both final practice rounds as well as two sections of qualifying.

Race (1st July 2018)

It’s a bad day for Mercedes. First Bottas got the gear problem, then strategists made a mistake by not pitting Hamilton at the time of virtual safety car. Lastly, Hamilton rolled to a stop where he lost all the pressure of the fuel. The race was won by Max Verstappen, the first runner-up was Kimi Raikkonen and the second one was Sebastian Vettel.
